GENERAL INFORMATION

Applications must be finished in their entirety prior to closing your screen. Partial applications will not be saved.

It will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete the application.


Age:
The age requirement for the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center’s Volunteen Program is between 15 and 17 years old and have not graduated from high school (will be a rising high school sophomore, junior or senior for school year 2023-2024)


Volunteen Program Dates: The Volunteen Program will start on Monday, June 24, 2024 and end on Friday, July 26, 2024. The Volunteen Recognition social will be on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 11:00am. Mandatory Orientation will be on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 9:00am. Volunteens will participate in the 5 week session and spend between 4 and 12 hours each week at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.

Application: : Accepted from April 1st through May 5th. Online Application must be entirely completed and electronically signed by applicant and parent(s) or guardian(s) by May 5th 11:59PM. You must print off the permission slip and two letters of references. The permission slip must be turned in prior to your interview appointment (email, fax, mailed or dropped off to Human Resources).

References: The two letters of reference must be received by UM Charles Regional by May 15. Reference letter templates may be downloaded form the intranet.


Selection: Application and two letters of reference will be reviewed to determine eligibility of applicants.

Requirements: After acceptance to the Volunteen program you will be required to:

1.
Attend MANDATORY Orientation on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 9:00am.
2. Purchase a uniform. (Tan/Khaki pants and Red Polo Shirt.)
3. Complete the Medical Screening Requirements.

Orientation: Orientation will consist of:

1. Virtual tour of the hospital.

2. Uniforms and grooming.
3. Regulations & Requirements.
4. Descriptions and demonstration of services and duties of Volunteens.

Please note that due to the overwhelming response in previous years, we will only be able to select a certain number of individuals (based on available slots) to participate in the Volunteen Program.
